TL;DR: The Whistle 3 GPS pet tracker and activity monitor is on sale for just $63.95 on Amazon. It’s normally $99.99, so you’ll save $36.

Anyone who’s ever proclaimed that their pooch is their entire world probably wasn’t being hyperbolic: Forty-nine percent of U.S. pet owners consider their dog a top-three concern in life, worrying mostly about Fido’s health and safety and what would happen if he ever ran away.

That’s according to a brand new survey conducted by Whistle, a pet care brand that makes wearable trackers for both dogs and cats. Its latest releases — the Whistle GO and Whistle GO Explore — feature real-time location tracking and advanced health monitoring and retail for $99.95 and $129.95, respectively.

That’s a small price to pay for the ultimate peace of mind when it comes to your furry friend’s wellbeing, but pet owners on a budget might prefer to pick up the prior-generation Whistle 3 GPS pet tracker and activity monitor. Normally $99.95, Amazon has it on sale right now for just $63.95 — a 36% discount.

Deemed “the best bang for your buck” in Mashable’s roundup of GPS pet collars and trackers, the ultra-compact Whistle 3 attaches easily to your pet’s existing collar and weighs in at less than an ounce so as not to distract or bother them.

Once the device is on, simply download the Whistle app on your smartphone to keep tabs on your pet’s activity, including their sleep patterns, and view recaps of their day. You’ll be prompted to designate several “Safe Places” where your pet spends most of their time; if they ever wander out of a Safe Place, the app will send you a notification and allow you to track them every 60 seconds. (Monitoring plans start at $6.95 per month.)

Amazon reviewer Jcee got a Whistle 3 for their puggle and had this to say:

“After my furball got out recently and we had no idea, I decided to do something about it. Whistle was it and it does exactly what the company says it will. My friends tease my dog that she’s now on house arrest, but that’s literally exactly what it is and that’s the point. Easy to setup, fully customizable as far as alerts (text/email). I have my daughter setup to also get notifications. I’ve marked our house as her “home zone”, if she leaves that space we instantly get the notifications alerting us to the nearest address & distance (in feet) away she is.”
