Watch the Porsche Taycan EV fly around the track in new season of ‘Top Gear’

“It has no right to drive like this.”

That’s the takeaway from the upcoming episode of BBC America’s Top Gear when show presenter Chris Harris takes the Porsche Taycan for a spin. The first all-electric vehicle from the German automaker arrived in the U.S. at the beginning of the year after its European debut. It’s not a race car, but a four-door sporty EV that’s often compared to the fastest Tesla Model S sedan (except in price).

Harris took the 5,000-pound, roughly 200-mile range Taycan around the race track in the UK and pushed it so far that his kidneys hurt. You can see him “rev” the electric battery and motor to its limit (and up to 120 mph) in the clip above.

The Taycan has an ongoing rivalry with Tesla even though the Porsche EV has beat Tesla’s Model S on the track. At least Tesla and its die-hard followers can boast about better battery range

When Harris says that the “electric future won’t just be fast, but it’ll be seriously exciting,” he could also be referring to the charged tension between the two automakers and their loyal fans.

A new 2021 Taycan will be available at the start of next year: the “budget” model, the Taycan 4S, which comes with a 79.2-kWh performance battery.

The Taycan is featured during episode 3 on Top Gear‘s 28th season, which starts Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on BBC America.
