Turns out, you already know the name of OnePlus TV
OnePlus’ TV, first announced by company CEO Pete Lau in Sept. 2018, now has an official name (wait for it): OnePlus TV.
The name, alongside the device’s logo, was unveiled by Lau on OnePlus’ official forum Wednesday.
“Yes, we are going to call our very first smart TV product “OnePlus TV” – simple yet to-the-point – as we believe there’s no other name that can best represent our value, vision and pride than naming it with our own brand,” wrote Lau.
When he originally announced the device, Lau asked OnePlus users and fans to help the company find a name for it. In the new announcement, he wrote that the company is “thankful for all the suggestions” from fans, but it ultimately decided on the simplest possible option. The first one who came with the “OnePlus TV” name will get a “big prize,” though.
While the post shares some tidbits about the creation of the OnePlus TV logo (which isn’t all that surprising-looking, either), it still has absolutely zero information on the device itself. All it says is that more details are coming “soon.”
OnePlus is not the only smartphone-oriented company to jump into the TV-making business lately. Last week, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor announced its first smart TV product called Honor Vision.
