This Sony soundbar has Bluetooth built in — get it on sale for under $150
TL;DR: This sleek Sony soundbar with built-in Bluetooth usually retails for $198, but Amazon’s got it on sale right now for just $148 — a 25% savings.
Today’s TVs have amazing picture quality — shout-out to 4K and OLED technologies — but unless you splurge for one that supports Dolby Atmos, most displays built-in sound systems are pretty underwhelming.
That’s where soundbars come in. Typically slim and rectangular in their design, these devices contain multiple speakers and connect to your TV to upgrade its audio quality.
You could spend a few thousand dollars on a really, really nice soundbar if that’s your prerogative, but at that point, you might as well buy a whole new TV. For a better bang for your buck, pick up the Sony HT-CT290 Ultra-Slim 300W Soundbar that Amazon just put on sale. It may not be the newest or fanciest model on the market, but for under $150, you can’t beat its value.

As its name not-so-subtly implies, the HT-CT290 is a ridiculously slim and elegant soundbar that’s suitable for either wall or tabletop installation. Each device comes with its own wireless subwoofer, which can be stood upright or tipped onto its side depending on the layout of your living space.
The soundbar itself can be controlled with either your existing TV remote or via Bluetooth; connect it to a compatible tablet, phone, or laptop to stream your music through its speakers.
But you probably don’t care how the HT-CT290 looks or works so much as what it sounds like. Here’s the lowdown: It offers 300 watts of power and 2.1ch S-Force Surround Sound for a gorgeous range of dynamics, and its companion subwoofer provides deep, full-bodied bass. What’s more, it features two special modes for extra clarity in certain situations: one that makes it easier to hear voices in films and on TV, and one that produces clearer sounds at low volumes for when you’re watching TV at night.
Here’s what Amazon reviewer Baretta81 wrote about their HT-CT290 soundbar:
“This is a decent sound bar for the price. I don’t have too much experience with these but its an upgrade from my old Pyle sound bar that my ex gf took from my house when she left. I love the additional subwoofer and the Bluetooth function. I would say to use this for a regular sized living room and you should be fine. I’m [giving it four out of five stars] because I feel that although the bass is pretty good it could have a little more treble if you know what I mean. But its fine esp. for the price.”
The Sony HT-CT290 soundbar is valued at $198, but you can order one today via Amazon for just $148 — a savings of 25%, or $50.
