The OnePlus 6T has an official launch date: Oct. 30
Fans of OnePlus won’t have to wait much longer for a new phone.
The Chinese manufacturer announced an Oct. 30 event for the official release of the OnePlus 6T, an updated version of the popular OnePlus 6 smartphone.
The event will take place in New York City, kicking off at 11 a.m. Eastern Time. In keeping with its populist marketing, OnePlus is allowing fans to buy tickets to attend the launch.
The OnePlus 6T is said to have an in-display fingerprint sensor. It wouldn’t be the first consumer smartphone to have such a feature — phones from Oppo and Vivo already include it — but the 6T will be the first device aggressively marketed out outside of Asia to have it, a big step for the tech.
The rumored starting price for the OnePlus 6T is $529, although we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a bit lower, especially now that the company has a carrier partner at launch for the first time: T-Mobile. In the past, OnePlus typically offered unlocked devices for sale via the internet.
Other things we’re expecting from the OnePlus 6T: a Snapdragon 845 chip, 6GB of RAM, and a dual-camera system. It should have a larger 6.4-inch display with a smaller notch than the current OnePlus 6.
We’re expecting more leaks as we approach the launch date. Last week we saw a press shot leak out, but we could see a repeat of the Pixel 3 leaks if a 6T gets out in the wild.
Check back on Oct. 30 for the full story on the OnePlus 6T.
