TL;DR: The extremely versatile Instant Pot Max (6-quart) is on sale for $149.95, saving you $49.96.

Food is a very subjective thing.

When a group of friends is trying to decide on the cuisine of the night, the suggestion “something good” means something different to everyone.

But “comfort food” — something warm (especially when it’s chilly out), maybe nostalgic, and probably a little unhealthy — now that’s more universally understood.

As we’re preparing to go into comfort food season once again, an Instant Pot is the ultimate tool for quick meals with a home-cooked vibe. One of the most advanced models, the Instant Pot Max, is on sale for $49.96 off — its lowest price on Amazon ever since its release in winter 2018.

The Instant Pot Max dares to go where no multicooker has gone before. Aside from Instant Pot’s usual pressure cooking, rice cooking, sautéing, and more, the Max has a few new tricks up its sleeve: pressure canning, 15 psi for faster cooking, a digital pressure release valve, and sous vide. All together, it claims to replace 12 appliance functions.

The Instant Cult wasn’t exactly impressed upon release, but the Amazon reviews have improved tenfold since then:

I debated choosing between the Max and the 6 qt Duo Plus. Since price was not an issue I chose the Max because it is the most versatile. The automatic multi mode steam vent is a very useful Feature. Although I most likely won’t use the canning feature, the sous-vide feature will get some use. The digital touch panel is great and makes the pot look much nicer! You dont need all the button selected presets on the other models since every recipe is just a combination of steam pressure, time and venting method. All of which one has total control of with the Max. The pot sautes well and you can select low high or custom heat levels. So far i am vry pleased with the product.

Thanks for the detail, Old Sub Man.

Other reviews have had successful bouts with the sous vide and simply appreciate not having to buy a separate appliance. Others, especially those cooking large cuts of meat, have found that the 15 psi really does make a difference

Guess you’ll have to make an opinion yourself — regularly $199.95, you can save $49.96 and get the Max for $149.99.
