Save up to 52% at Best Buy
Aside from a seemingly random GameStop bundle that sold out in a couple of hours, we haven’t seen the Nintendo Switch in stock at any major retailer for months now — and we look literally every day. (The Switch Lite has been less elusive, but only slightly; select stores in bigger cities have occasionally made available for in-person pickup.) If you’ve managed to track one down at some point despite COVID-19-related supply chain shortages and unprecedented demand, there are three things we’d like to say to you:
-
How?
-
Consider yourself *extremely* lucky. Like, if the U.S. weren’t still navigating a global pandemic, we’d recommend high-tailing it to Vegas right now.
-
Make sure you grab a microSD card at some point.
The latter comes up because, at 32GB, the Nintendo Switch’s internal storage is woefully small — and if you haven’t noticed it yet, you will as soon as you try to install more than three or four AAA titles. Personally, my partner and I were only able to fit Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on our shared Switch before it ran out of room between game save data and the system itself. (We had also bought Breath of the Wild along with the console, but installing that 13.4GB colossus was out of the question until we tracked down a microSD card for extra storage.)
For a stellar deal on a microSD card, look no further than Best Buy — as of June 14, lots of different sizes from SanDisk were on sale there for as much as 52% off. Below, you’ll find them listed in order from smallest to largest:
(Note: “Ultra Plus” and “Extreme Plus” cards offer faster transfer speeds than the standard versions.)
