Save up to 40% at Best Buy
TL;DR: The WiFi-enabled iRobot Roomba 890 usually retails for $499.99, but as of March 12, Best Buy has it on sale for only $299.99 — a savings of exactly $200.
Not in the mood for spring cleaning? You’re not alone: A 2019 survey of 2,000 Americans conducted by the Duck brand (as in, the duct tape people) revealed that the average individual has *six* chores they’re putting off at any given time.
If you find yourself making excuses for your filthy floors and rugs more often than not, you’re in luck, because there’s an appliance out there that can do your literal dirty work for you: the humble robot vacuum. These autonomous cleaning machines are quickly gaining on upright vacuums popularity-wise — Consumer Reports says they’re the fastest-growing product in the floor care category — and we’re willing to bet the convenience factor has played a major role in that regard.

If you know anything about robot vacuums, you probably know that iRobot is widely regarded as a leader in the technology thanks to its iconic Roomba line. (The brand is basically synonymous with robot vacuums at this point.) You also probably know that those puppies can get extremely expensive, with some of the newer models costing upwards of $1,000. (That would be the self-emptying, smart-mapping Roomba s9+, which came out last July and retails for $1,399.99.)
Fortunately, you can almost always score a good deal on a Roomba if you know where to look — it just takes a little digging sometimes. For example, we noticed that the popular, mid-range Roomba 890 model was sold out on Amazon, but when we looked it up on Best Buy’s website, we noticed that it was still in stock *and* marked down by a whopping $200.
FYI, the Roomba 890 makes a great starter model if this is your first foray into robot vacuums: It’s easy to use and plenty “smart,” minus too many complicated bells and whistles. Its biggest draw is the fact that it comes equipped with WiFi, which means you can control it and schedule it anytime, anywhere using the iRobot HOME app on your smartphone. (iRobot has also equipped it with voice-control capabilities, so you can use it with your Amazon Alexa device or the Google Assistant, too.) What’s more, it comes with high-performance brushes that can pick up dirt and pet hair without getting tangled, making it perfect for people who share their living spaces with dogs and/or cats.
We normally see the iRobot Rooma 890 listed at $499.99, but you can snag it on sale at Best Buy for only $299.99 — a 40% savings.
Looking for something a little sleeker, a little smarter, or a little cheaper? Don’t waste your time scoping out different retailers — we’ve already done the research for you.
