Garmin Drive 50 — $84.99 (list price $149.99)

This is the best GPS device for someone who doesn’t have a smartphone. The Garmin Drive 50 uses a built in traffic receiver and requires the vehicle power/antenna cable while the Drive 51 needs a smartphone and connection to the Garmin SmartLink app. Save $65 and get it for $84.99.

TomTom GO 52 — $137.58 (list price $199.99)

This TomTom’s interface has a bigger learning curve than that of Garmin, but features much more modern details of the surrounding environment. The Go 52 is compatible with Google Now and Siri, and you can sync your text messages to the display. Save $62.41 and get it for $137.58.
