This means that the screen is always illuminated and won’t make you whip your wrist just to check the time. It’s also the first Apple Watch that can call 911 from anywhere in the world and double as a legit magnetic compass. There are also many more band options, improved health apps and menstrual tracking in WatchOS6, plus the ability to take an ECG that was already there. If you have the Series 4 already, you might not even care — but if you’ve been dealing with the Series 3 for a few years, the improvements could be life-changing.
