Samsung’s next tablets will have larger screens to compete with the iPad Pro, report says
In the world of tablets, Apple’s iPad and iPad Pro are the standard to which other tablets are measured, especially with most Android device manufacturers treating tablets as an afterthought.
But Samsung is still trying, and if SamMobile‘s new report is accurate, its upcoming devices could be decent Android competitors to Apple’s tablets
According to the outlet, Samsung plans to launch the successor to its Galaxy Tab S6 — possibly called the Galaxy Tab S7 — in two new display sizes: 11 inches and 12.4 inches.
This is a pretty big increase over the Tab S6’s 10.5-inch display, and it brings devices closer to the territory of Apple’s iPad Pro, which comes in 11-inch and 12.9-inch sizes. In March, Apple refreshed the lineup with two new iPad Pros, each with a new processor, dual rear camera, LiDAR scanner, and touchpad support.
The report doesn’t have any other details about Samsung’s new tablets, besides the usual improvements: latest processor (possibly the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865), more RAM, better cameras, and a larger battery. The tablets might also feature 5G support and Android 10 software.
There’s nothing specific on availability, either. The tablets are scheduled to arrive later this year. Last year’s Galaxy Tab S6 launched in July, so it might be a couple of months before we see the S7.
