TL;DR: The doubly-useful Alexa-enabled Fire TV Cube is on sale for $69 when you buy refurbished — saving you $30 on the regular refurb price and $50 on the brand-new model price.

Amazon has yet again added to its brigade of streaming devices: A new 4K Fire TV sound bar called the Nebula and a souped-up version of the original Fire TV Cube are both available for pre-order.

The second generation Fire TV Cube is the first of the two to be released (Oct. 10 versus Nov. 21), with updates including an upgraded processor for doubled speeds when launching apps or responding to voice commands.

However, if you’re not convinced that the upgrades warrant a price tag of $119.99, you can still get the experience in your home by grabbing a refurbished version of the first Fire TV Cube. It’s been tested and certified to work like new and is on sale for $69.99 — $30 cheaper than its normal price and $50 cheaper than buying brand new.

The Fire TV Cube can be thought of as, like, if an Echo and a Fire TV Stick had a baby: On the Echo side, it can be synced with your smart home devices to control lights or locks with voice commands. On the Fire TV Side, it lets you use Alexa to launch, pause, or play streaming apps, as well as control volume or record a show. If your TV uses a sound bar, A/V receiver, or HD antenna, Alexa can control those as well.

Even if you already have a smart TV, streaming through an external device (like the Fire TV Cube) is just better. Many times, apps like Netflix and Hulu are bogged down with smart TV interfaces (which have been known to stall for literally no reason), and apps downloaded to the TV are much less likely to support updates.

Regularly $99.99 (or $119.99 for a brand new model), you can save $30 and get a Fire TV Cube with an included Alexa Voice Remote for $69.99.
