Moto P30 is the most ridiculous iPhone X copy yet
Shortly after the iPhone X launched with its notched screen, many Android phone makers started producing… well, similar phones. Devices like the Xiaomi Mi 8 and Vivo V9 had similarly notched screens, but at least there where minor differences: perhaps the notch was a little smaller or the phone was a little thinner.
Enter Moto P30, a phone for the Chinese market that looks exactly like the iPhone X, save for a slightly thicker lower bezel donning the “motorola” logo.
The company even went so far as to adorn the screen with a wallpaper that’s a dead ringer for Apple’s default wallpaper for the iPhone X.
I mean, just look at the damn thing.
The back of the phone is similarly iPhonesque, unless you choose the Aurora color, in which case the phone is a pretty blatant copy of Huawei’s P20 (see below).
The company redeemed itself a little (just a little) by adding an “M” logo onto the fingerprint scanner on the back. The phone’s official page actually points this out, saying something about good design being all about the details. Good one, Motorola.
Other than being a pretty shameless copy of other phones, the Moto P30 phone isn’t very interesting: It’s a mid-ranger with a 6.2-inch screen, a Snapdragon 636 processor, 6GB of RAM, a 16/5-megapixel camera on the back, a 12-megapixel selfie camera, and a 3,000mAh battery.
The Moto P30 is arriving on Sept. 15 for ¥2,099 ($303) with 64GB of storage or ¥2,499 ($360) with 128GB of storage. If you want it to be more like the iPhone, you can get it in black or white; if you fancy the Huawei P20, you can get it in the aforementioned Aurora color.
