LG’s stylish Velvet smartphone is arriving in early May
LG has been teasing its new Velvet smartphone for a few weeks now, and thanks to a new teaser video, we know exactly when it’s launching: May 7.
The video (below) doesn’t reveal anything new about the phone, and it’s once again focused on its “raindrop” rear camera design, in which the camera lenses are positioned as to resemble rain drops.
The video comes from LG Korea, so it’s possible that the May 7 refers to the launch in Korea; there’s no word on an international launch just yet.
In a previous teaser video, LG has shown the phone from all sides, and revealed some of its specs; namely, the Snapdragon 765 chipset with 5G connectivity. The phone’s headphone jack is also visible in the video.
The Velvet smartphone is an important new direction for LG, whose smartphone sales haven’t been great…well, ever. The company is shedding the complicated naming schemes of yesteryear (such as the LG V60 ThinQ) and focusing on simpler branding and elegant design.
