Jack Dorsey just unfollowed Mark Zuckerberg on Twitter
When you’re going to snub your corporate and philosophical rival, you might as well do it with a little flair.
That seems to be the thinking of Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey, who, on Dec. 17, not only unfollowed Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s Twitter account, but also threw in a little hidden easter egg just to make sure we all got the fuck you message.
It started with Dorsey following @BigTechAlert, a Twitter account that, in its own words, “[follows] what the CEOs and other high executives from Big Tech companies do on Twitter[.]”
And, of course, @BigTechAlert notified its followers of this move.
“@jack is now following @BigTechAlert,” tweeted the account.
Having done this — thus signifying that he was aware of the @BigTechAlert account and knew it would blast his Twitter moves to the account’s followers, Dorsey then unfollowed Zuckerberg’s account.
“@jack is no longer following @finkd,” alerted the account.
We reached out to Twitter in an effort to determine Dorsey’s reason for unfollowing Zuckerberg, but received no immediate response.
Interestingly, Zuckerberg hasn’t tweeted from the @finkd account since 2012, suggesting that Dorsey’s move was more about making a statement than cleaning up his Twitter feed.
Either way, we’re totally here for this social media laser-killed CEO beef. Here’s hoping this is only the beginning.
