Government launches Minecraft server so young people can stay inside and game during coronavirus
Poland has a not-so-secret weapon in order to convince its young citizens to stay indoors during the coronavirus pandemic.
Gaming!
The Polish government has launched a website, , filled with various online activities in order to keep young people from going out.
But, we’re not just talking a hands-off approach like a basic resource page with random third-party links. The country’s Ministry of Digitization has gone to set up exclusive tournaments, servers, and other interactive games so the youth listen to quarantine orders, according to a Poland government website that Mashable translated into English.
The Polish government has created a public Minecraft server and launched a website with online activities to encourage young people to stay home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

One such activity that Poland is encouraging: Minecraft. Poland has set up its very own Minecraft server, in order to encourage community gameplay. The server will also host a competition to see who can build the best replicas of known architecture. Each Minecraft player will be given a virtual plot and building materials. The contest launches Sunday.
The campaign also has a slew of other events planned. There will be game development webinars, dozens of puzzles, Polish history quizzes, and more.
With schools are currently closed until March 25, the government of Poland seems to have really put in the effort to keep young people busy during the coronavirus pandemic. According to the World Health Organization, the country currently 425 confirmed cases of COVID-19, the official term for the disease caused by the virus.
