Google is prepping a new, renamed version of the Home Mini
Google is reportedly producing a new version of its Home Mini speaker and renaming it the “Nest Mini.”
The report comes from 9to5Google which includes a few other details on the new iteration of Google’s Amazon Echo competitor.
Perhaps the best news for fans of the device is that the sound will reportedly be much better, “with higher maximum volume and better bass and quality overall.”
Another perk: built-in wall mounts. 9to5Google claims third-party wall mounts for the current device are pretty popular so Google’s just going to skip the middle man and give users what they want.
Other new features could include a 3.5mm stereo jack, proximity awareness, and even potentially a new range of colors.
One thing that won’t be changing according to the report is the size, as the new generation of the speaker is expected to be roughly the same size as the current version.
As for the new name, it makes sense given Google’s decision to merge Nest with its own home products division, resulting in the Google Nest Hub Max.
No word on a release date but expect more details later this fall.
