‘Gears 5’ limited edition Xbox One X available for pre-order at Amazon
TL;DR: The snow and ice-covered Gears 5 Xbox One X limited edition bundle comes with download codes for four older games and can be pre-ordered at Amazon for $499.99.
Gears of War fans have been pretty much left in the dark since 2016. Aside from wee announcements and trailers here and there at E3, it’s been a game of waiting.
Your patience paid off. While Gears 5 itself doesn’t come out until Sept. 10, there’s a limited edition Gears 5 Xbox One X 1TB bundle available for pre-order at Amazon and releasing on Sept. 6. $499.99 will get you a digital download code for Gears 5 Ultimate Edition, Gears of War Ultimate Edition, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3, and Gears of War 4.
But here’s what you’re really waiting for: You can play all of those games on the limited edition Xbox One console and controller, both featuring a matching snow design. Beneath the ice cracks on the console appears the iconic Crimson Omen, submerged in snow and ready to play.
Aside from the fact that it’s just called “Gears” now, the next installment of the series sees some brand new elements. Kait, now the main character, can play in either Horde mode or a new Escape mode. Instead of defending, you’re constantly moving.
Here’s the announcement video from E3 to get you hyped:
For $499.99, you can pre-order the console and game package to lock down your spot. The bundle will be released on Sept. 6, 2019 — four days before the game by itself comes out on Sept. 10.
