Eco-friendly chargers could be the new reusable straws — and these ones are on sale
You’ve heard the statistic: Just 100 companies — fossil fuel producers, specifically — have been responsible for 71% of greenhouse gas emissions since 1988. That means individual efforts to combat climate change are effectively pointless, right? Even those reusable straws?
Au contraire, mon pessimiste: While things are pretty dire, we can do a lot of good individually by being stingier with the fossil fuels those companies produce, becoming more mindful of how our goods are made, and electing officials who prioritize the environment. (That’s a very abridged version of the advice of Richard Heede, co-founder and co-director of the Climate Accountability Institute, who spoke to Vox about the matter a few months ago.)
So, where to start? Well, we can’t force you to do anything, for starters. We can, however, recommend a few products — i.e., Nimble’s charging pads and battery packs, the green solutions to your phone’s zapped-battery woes.
Unlike most traditional gadgets of their kind, they’re sustainably made from eco-friendly materials and shipped in 100% plastic-free packaging.
Plus, for every product sold, Nimble will recycle up to a pound of e-waste for you: simply seal your old or unused electronic devices in the disposable pouch included with every Nimble order, send them back to Nimble, and they’ll ship ’em on over to their recycling partner at no additional cost to you.
Little efforts like these can make all the difference, provided we each do our part.
For a limited time, you’ll find a couple different Nimble products on sale in the Mashable Shop.
Here’s the scoop:
Capable of energizing up to two devices simultaneously, Nimble’s Wireless Dual Charging Pad features optimized charging for Qi-enabled iPhones and Samsung devices for fast, efficient power. You won’t have to worry about your devices overheating, though, as each charging pad comes equipped with fail-safe circuitry that manages power currents and temperature. Each pad is constructed from soft-touch TPE made from recycled water bottles, organic hemp, and plant-based bioplastics, and boasts a unique speckled design.
A $49.95 value, Mashable readers can score a Nimble Eco-Friendly Wireless Dual Charging Pad for just $36.95 — a savings of 26%.
Made from recyclable aluminum and plant-based bioplastics, each Nimble battery pack includes one USB-C port and three USB-A output ports so you can juice up multiple devices at the same time — and fast. Thanks to its 18-watt USB-C power delivery, it’s capable of charging an iPhone up to 50% in 30 minutes, or a Samsung device up to 80% in 35 minutes. Rather get your device up to 100% power in one sitting? The charger’s built-in LED indicator will tell you when it’s ready. As an added bonus, each charger comes with a magnetic cable management attachment that keeps loose cords secure while you’re on the go.
Pop over to our shop, where you’ll find three different versions of the Nimble Eco-Friendly Fast Portable Charger on sale: the five-day/13000 mAh model (a $59.95 value) for just $42.95, the eight-day/20,000 mAh model (a $69.95 value) for just $46.95, and the ten-day/26,800 mAh model (a $99.95 value) for only $64.95.
