Coinbase Card, the cryptocurrency exchange’s Visa debit card that lets users spend crypto directly from their accounts, is expanding.
On Thursday, Coinbase added support for five more cryptocurrencies: BAT, REP, XLM, XRP and ZRX. This brings the number of supported cryptocoins to nine, with the original four being BTC, ETH, BCH and LTC.
“Since launching earlier this year, Coinbase Card has helped tens of thousands of users spend their crypto as easily as the money in their bank accounts. With Christmas approaching, the demand for Coinbase Card will be will higher than ever,” said JD Millwood, Head of Marketing at Coinbase UK, in a statement.
Coinbase Card was originally launched in the UK in April, and has steadily been introduced to other European countries. Now, the card will become available to customers in ten new countries in Europe, with the total being 29.
The newly supported countries are as follows: Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Hungary, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Poland, Romania, and Sweden. With these additions, the card is available in all of the countries in the European Union (and Iceland) with the exception of Czech Republic and Malta. The full list of supported countries is available here.
Coinbase Card is a debit card that allows Coinbase users to directly spend cryptocurrency holdings from their Coinbase accounts. It supports contactless, chip and PIN payments, and allows you to withdraw cash from ATMs. Its accompanying app, available on iOS and Android, lets you choose your spending wallet and has features like spending summaries, instant receipts and notifications.
The card doesn’t have a monthly fee and ATM withdrawals are free for up to a certain amount, but there’s an issuance fee as well as transaction fees. There are also daily, monthly and yearly spending limits which can be increased on request. Check out the details in the official FAQ.
To order the card, download the Coinbase Card app from Apple’s App Store or from Google Play and follow the instructions.
