Buy a MacBook Air on sale, get Apple TV+ and Apple Music for free
TL;DR: Best Buy has select configurations of the latest MacBook Air on sale for up to $250 off (as of March 10), and all of them come with a free year’s worth of streaming with Apple TV+ as well as four free months of Apple Music.
Apple has been giving away free one-year Apple TV+ subscriptions (a $59.88 value) with the purchase of any new MacBook since last September, which is great until you realize you still have to fork over your laptop‘s full retail price: The company almost never discounts its devices, even around Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
And then there’s Best Buy. Not only is the electronics retailer participating in that free Apple TV+ promotion, too, but on top of those savings, it’s also offering discounts of up to $250 on select MacBook Air configurations and throwing in four free months of Apple Music to boot. Holy one-upping, Batman.
For the uninitiated, Apple TV+ is Tim Cook’s horse in the streaming race that’s billed as “the first all-original video subscription service and home for today’s most imaginative storytellers.” And just between us, its lineup is straight-up stacked: Highlights include the hit series The Morning Show (starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon), which won two Critics’ Choice Television Awards in January; the extremely good Mythic Quest: Raven’s Nest, a game dev sitcom from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Megan Ganz; and the deeply moving anthology series Little America, which follows immigrant families’ pursuits of the American Dream.

Apple Music, meanwhile, is a music streaming service that offers unlimited, ad-free listening to a library of over 60 million songs via web browser or the Apple Music app. Plans normally cost $9.99 a month, so the monthslong trial that comes with the MacBook Airs on sale at Best Buy is worth a solid $40. (Note: This offer is only available to first-time subscribers.)
As for the MacBook Air in question, it’s the 13.3-inch model released last year with a couple of upgrades from its predecessor: a quieter keyboard, Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports, a slightly faster performance, better graphics, and a brighter, True Tone-supporting Retina display. Mashable tech reporter Ray Wong described it in his review as “a competent laptop for light computing like writing, web browsing, and watching videos,” but cautioned against “[expecting] it to be a champ at heavy-lifting tasks like video editing or gaming.” (That’s standard procedure for the MacBook Air line, whose notebooks are known for their lightweight, recycled aluminum design and portability more than anything else.)
