Best AirPods Max deal: Save $30 on Amazon

Amazon is upping the Apple ante ahead of Prime Day.

A week after putting the sky blue AirPods Max on sale for $529, the online retailer has marked them and the silver version of the over-ear headphones down to only $519.99 — that’s just under $30 off Apple’s suggested retail price of $549 (and only $1.87 away from the all-time-low price they both briefly hit in late May).

Note that the green and pink ones were also cheaper than their MSRP at the time of writing, but at $540.03 — or about $9 off — their discount is barely worth it. If either one of those is your preferred color, we suggest waiting a bit to see if they join their comrades at $520. (Pro tip: You can set a price alert using certain Chrome extensions.)

For the uninitiated, the AirPods Max marked Apple’s first foray into the world of non-Beats-branded over-ear headphones when they dropped this past December. After taking them for a test drive, Mashable tech reporter Brenda Stolyar concluded that while they may not be super comfy for people with smaller ears and glasses-wearers — their earcups are pretty massive — they’re a really good pair of headphones overall, with “great sound quality, ideal battery life, easy controls, and a stylish design.” (We’d be kind of salty if they weren’t, TBH, given what Apple’s charging for them — you can read Stolyar’s full review here.)
