Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro could come as soon as September
Now that the new Mac Pro and iMac Pro are here to cater to the needs of professionals, is it finally time for Apple to launch a laptop that’s, you know, actually made for pros? It might be.
According to a report by Forbes, which cites IHS Markit Associate Director Jeff Lin, Apple is getting ready to launch its long-rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro this fall — potentially during the big iPhone event in September.
According to IHS Markit’s analysis, the new laptop will have a 16-inch, 3,072×1,920 pixel TFT LCD screen manufactured by LG. There’s no mention of a potential variant with an OLED display.
Apple currently sells a 13-inch and a 15-inch MacBook Pro, with the larger model having a 2,880×1,800 pixel screen. It also only has 4 USB-C ports, and many professionals would like to see more connectivity options on a potential 16-inch MacBook Pro, though none of the reports so far offer any details about that.
We first heard about the 16-inch MacBook Pro from reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in February. However, Kuo later revised his prediction to say that this device will come in the first half of 2021.
The Forbes report also claims that Apple might refresh its 13-inch MacBook Pro and the Retina MacBook Air with new processors in September.
