Apple removes podcasts from InfoWars’ Alex Jones on iTunes
Apple has taken a strong stand on InfoWars founder Alex Jones.
According to BuzzFeed, five InfoWars podcasts including War Room and The Alex Jones Show were removed from the iTunes and Podcasts directory, leaving only RealNews with David Knight available on the platform.
An Apple spokesperson confirmed to the news outlet it had taken down some of InfoWars’ podcasts.
The spokesperson added the company “does not tolerate hate speech, and we have clear guidelines that creators and developers must follow to ensure we provide a safe environment for all of our users.”
“Podcasts that violate these guidelines are removed from our directory making them no longer searchable or available for download or streaming. We believe in representing a wide range of views, so long as people are respectful to those with differing opinions,” the statement added.
Sleeping Giants, a group which advocates for companies to stop funding bigotry and sexism, said in a tweet that Apple deserved “massive kudos … for doing what most tech companies have so far refused to do.”
Last week, we asked @Apple how the harassment of Sandy Hook parents and Vegas shooting victims didn’t violate their Terms of Service. Tonight, they decided that it did.

The decision comes off the back of other companies who have decided to take down InfoWars content, with Spotify last week revealing it removed “certain episodes” of The Alex Jones Show.
Podcasting service Stitcher also said it removed Jones’ shows from its platforms. Facebook handed a 30-day timeout to his personal account, while YouTube gave his channel a strike — but stopped short of banning him.
Apple have been contacted for further comment.
