TL;DR: The Alexa-supported Amazon Cloud Cam is on sale for $89.99, its best price in Amazon history. (It’s normally $119.99, so you’ll save $30.)

A new survey conducted by the homeowner resource site Porch has revealed that the high cost of equipment is the No. 1 reason why people choose to forgo a home security system. And you know what? That’s fair: While doing research for Mashable’s 2019 roundup of the best home security systems, we discovered that basic starter kits cost as much as $400.

Here’s the thing, though: You don’t always *need* a whole-ass home security system to protect your belongings. Sometimes a simple app-connected security camera is enough to give you peace of mind that your home is safe, especially in smaller spaces like an apartment, condo, or garage.

If your home is already outfitted with an Amazon Alexa-enabled smart home device like an Echo Spot, Echo Show, Fire TV, or Fire Tablet, ordering one of Amazon’s Cloud Cams is a no-brainer: Since it comes with built-in support for the popular virtual assistant, you can have Alexa stream the Cloud Cam’s feed on any of those devices’ screens. What’s more, it’s *finally* on sale again (and for its all-time-best price) after nearly two months of being sold for full retail value.

Along with Alexa compatibility, the Cloud Cam comes equipped with a built-in mic and speaker that allow for two-way audio when the device is connected to the Cloud Cam App on your smartphone. The camera itself records 24/7 in 1080p Full HD and features night vision technology that activates as soon as its surroundings dim. You’ll get a notification from the app whenever that camera detects activity, although you’re free to check in on its feed at anytime (and from anywhere) to make sure everything looks A-OK.

The Cloud Cam App lets you watch, download, and share any motion alert video clips from the last 24 hours for free, but if that’s not enough, you can see up to 30 days of video history by signing up for a Cloud Cam Plan. Subscriptions include features like person and audio detection and custom zone programming; they start at $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year. (Note: Every Cloud Cam comes with a free 30-day trial of Cloud Cam Plans, so there’s time to decide if you want to commit or not.)

Head over to Amazon to order a Cloud Cam for just $89.99 — $30 off its suggested retail price of $119.99 and a 25% savings.
