6 tips to maintain an organized car
Keeping your car organized and clean is something many people struggle with – here are some great tips to do so.
1. Clear the clutter
First things first, you want to clear out everything you don’t need. Have a bin that you can use in your vehicle. You want an easily accessible trashcan to get rid of the trash as soon as you’re done with it. You also want to have it accessible to your kids when they need to get rid of wrappers and other things. You don’t want clutter building up day in and day out or else your car is going to get messy in a hurry.
2. Clean it occasionally
When you are looking to maintain a more organized car, you need to spend some time cleaning it. This means more than washing the exterior. You also want to do some detailed cleaning inside the vehicle. You want to pay attention to details while cleaning. A good tool to have would be a spare toothbrush for getting into crevices. You can even use a toothbrush and toothpaste to clean the gunk off your headlight covers to get them looking new. Make it easy to keep clean with car mats from Mr Car Mats.
You can use things like a makeup brush to get rid of dust and debris building up on your air vents. You can get rid of bug splats and other hard-to-remove grime from your vehicle by using some cooking oil and rubbing it out with a microfiber cloth. A lint roller can be a good tool for getting rid of pet hair easily.
3. Split it up
The key to maintaining an organized vehicle comes with making it easy to organize. Try to split up the car into sections to create an optimal flow. You can consider the front seats your command center where you will only be stashing the items you deem to be essential. These should be items that you need access to while driving. This can include a phone and device charger, a water bottle, hand sanitizer, your registration, and more. You also want to try to have certain things handy like a pack of tissues and even sunglasses for those times you need them while driving.
As for the backseat, you can designate it for kids, passengers, or pets. You’ll want to retain enough space for comfortable seating. However, you can use the space to make for more storage compartments and more.
4. Add organizational compartments
Investing in organization products for your car can do wonders. Getting small boxes that you can use to store things can make for a good organizational tool. You could also consider getting other storage solutions like seat hangers and more. These can make for a good tool for kids to place a lot of their smaller toys and tools. A good way to keep your cup holder clean is by adding silicone cup holders to them. This can help you catch a lot of the spills and crumbs that might otherwise build up towards the bottom making it difficult to remove.
It’s a good idea to get a large organizer that you can use to store all of your important car and personal documents. You don’t want a pile of receipts building up and flying around the inside of the car. You can keep it much more organized having a designated space to keep all of your receipts.
5. Focus on your boot
Depending on what type of vehicle you have, you are going to want to optimize the space in your boot. You don’t want to allow junk to build up in your boot. Your boot is something that can prove to be very useful in helping you stay organized. If you don’t have a lot of usable space in your boot, you can leverage more of the vertical space that’s available inside of your car. Try to keep reusable shopping bags in your vehicle for grocery shopping. Whenever you’re done putting the groceries away, return them to the vehicle. You can add some buckets to your car for those beach and pool trips when you have a lot of wet gear.
6. Keep it tidy
Now that you’ve sorted and organized your vehicle, it’s going to be a lot easier to keep it looking great. The more you get into the habit of taking the trash with you when you park, the cleaner and more organized you can keep your vehicle. You want to remind your passengers to take their trash with them too.
It’s a good idea to keep a good amount of cleaning supplies readily available in your car. This can help you clean up spills quickly after they happen. You’ll want a good amount of wet wipes handy so you can tackle these spills and messes before you forget about them. Many people find car wrapping helps them keep their car intact. They can also help you quickly wipe down your steering wheel, dashboard, and even your windows when you need to.
