- Amazon is hinting that it has a
new plan to make boatloads of money from Alexa.
The company’s focus now seems to increasingly be turning to
using voice assistant, Alexa, as a platform to trial
digital subscriptions like music and video streaming. - Apple has removed the
entire libraries of five ofInfoWars‘ six podcasts from iTunes,
according to BuzzFeed. The company said Alex
Jones’ podcasts violated its hate speech guidelines. - Thousands of Uber drivers in
Australia logged off for more than an hour on
Monday. The Guardian reported that drivers want
Uber to stop using upfront pricing and go back to paying them
for the actual time and distance they travel. - iPhone supplier Taiwan
Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. shut down its factories after a
virus attack, Bloomberg reports. The slowdown
comes at a critical time for the company, as many tech firms
are working to release their next generation of products this
fall. - The uproar over how “Fortnite”
is being released for Android shows how much we have acquiesced
to Apple’s way of doing business. Epic Games
announced Friday that it won’t distribute the Android version
of “Fortnite: Battle Royale” through Google’s Play Store, and
it shows we’ve all bought into the app-store model. - Facebook employees are
obsessed with the foxes that hang out on their office
roof. Workers have an internal channel where they
share photos of the foxes, while social media is awash with
adorable images of the furry critters. - Korean electronics giant
LG is having to change to compete with Silicon
Valley. The company is opening artificial
intelligence labs around the world, while employees no longer
have to wear ties. - The cofounder of $23
million startup Pilot AI has been accused of taking off
his pants and telling a lewd story about Burning Man in front
of a female employee. In a new
lawsuit, Elliot English is accused of describing an anal
sex workshop he took at Burning Man, hosted by a famous porn
star. - The cofounder of $4 billion
startup Credit Karma used to work in Pizza
Hut. Ten years ago, Nichole Mustard sold her
house, took a 60% pay cut, and moved her family across the
country to found Credit Karma. - Academics created a periodic
table of mind-blowing tech, and it’s a handy guide to how the
world will change forever. Academics at Imperial
Tech Foresight created the table, which is designed to be a
