Everything coming to Amazon Prime Video in February 2019
The days are short, the weather is blustery, and everything in Walgreens is covered with hearts. Time to plan your February binge, baby! Here’s what’s streaming on Prime Video to help you round out your queue(s) for next month.
This February, Amazon Prime Video is a little low on television options, with Jordan Peele’s true-crime docuseries Lorena being a notable exception—more on that later. Keeping that in mind, you’ll probably want to stick to planning movie marathons rather than long series sprints. Here are a few highlights you may want to prioritize.
The Matrix, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in late March, begins streaming on 2/1. Its sequels will also be available.
Similarly scifi but with added horror, J.J. Abrams’ Overlord will be available for the first time out of theaters on 2/15, but fair warning: it is only available for purchase at this time and will not be part of the general streaming Prime package.
On the lighter, romcom-ier side of things, Along Came Polly, a Ben Stiller and Jennifer Anniston classic (that I will personally defend to the ends of the Earth), begins streaming on 2/1.
Check out everything streaming on Prime Video this February below.
Top Pick: Lorena, Season 1
“This was a modern love story. Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love with girl. Boy marries girl. Girl cuts off boy’s penis.”
The Academy Award-winning Jordan Peele is re-examining the infamous real-life trial of Lorena Bobbitt, a woman accused of violently assaulting her husband John Wayne in 1993, via Prime Video docuseries. The project, titled Lorena, aims to cast Bobbitt in a more sympathetic light and allow both her and Wayne to once again share their respective sides of the story nearly 26 years later.
Whether you’re a true crime loyalist or a newcomer to the genre post Netflix’s Ted Bundy Tapes, this is one decades-old drama worth a revisit.
Lorena: Season 1 begin streaming on Prime Video 2/8.
