Playstation Classic on sale for under $30: Save 70% at Walmart
TL;DR: The retro-inspired Playstation Classic normally retails for $99.99, but Walmart’s got it on sale for just $29.99 — a 70% discount.
The Playstation 5 sounds cool and all — really, really cool, actually — but you can’t beat the nostalgia factor of an original Playstation console. You know the one: It looked like a gray brick, had a meager 640×480 resolution, and left you with an enduring love for Crash Bandicoot. (Let’s not talk about that lame redesign, though.)
Sony discontinued that console back in 2006, leaving OG Playstation fans doomed to peruse ebay in the hopes of finding a used one for sale — that is, until it released a replica version called the Playstation Classic on the 24th anniversary of its 1996 debut.
With a retail price of $99.99, the Playstation Classic is a steal compared to the original console, which sold for $299 back in the day. But you can score one for even less if you shop at Walmart, where Playstation Classic consoles are currently on sale for just $29.99.
Sony bills the Classic as a “reimagined” version of the original, having scaled it down to a miniature size and preloaded it with fan-favorite retro games like Final Fantasy VII, Resident Evil: Director’s Cut, and Ridge Racer Type 4. It comes with its own virtual memory card and an HDMI cable to connect to your TV, as well as two wired controllers that look just like their predecessors, only with four shoulder buttons instead of two.
Walmart customer Me called the Playstation Classic an “Awesome idea” in their review of the console:
“great selection of games that I grew up playing. now I can play them again and don’t have to find each individual disc. I definitely recommend this”
Head over to Walmart’s site to grab one for just $29.99 — a whopping $40 savings.
