Bowers & Wilkins wireless headphones are $74.99 off at Amazon
Buying headphones that don’t have noise cancelation is kind of pointless, right?
But noise cancelation is pretty hit or miss, and it’s also pointless to drop a hundred on a meh pair that doesn’t do anything. You could have just spent $30 and been done with it.
The Bowers & Wilkins PX Wireless Noise-Canceling Headphones are known for their impeccable noise cancelation, but are usually too pricey for a lot of people. Today, they’re $74.99 off and can be yours for a way more justifiable $325. (They’re not even on sale on B&W’s site, so.)
A pioneer of wireless noise cancelation, Bowers & Wilkins was one of the first brands to mesh the sound quality that audiophiles want with wireless connectivity that busy bodies want. That beautiful child comes in the form of the PX headphones, which have been a contender in nearly any “best headphones” story since.
This heavenly tunnel vision (er, sound) is achieved by using built-in sensors to adapt to your surroundings which the headset uses to customize and block distractions (The Verge’s review referred to it as noise-canceling Nirvana). Any noise cancelation is better than none, but customized based on environment is ideal — everyone knows the buzz on airplanes and on the train are not the same thing. (Speaking of traveling, the PX fold up and have a special carrying case).
Actual audio quality is great, too. The angled drive units pack a massive punch with expressive lows and clear highs, and a crisp range in between. An aptX HD connection gets you high-res streaming that sounds closer to a live studio than traditional muffled headphone sound. The buttons on the side are a little hard to get used to, but sound can also be controlled with the PX app and by lifting up the ear cups.
Regularly $399.99, you can save $74.99 and go distraction-free for $325.
