Get the i7 Acer Spin 5 for less than $840
Save $260: The Acer Spin 5 convertible laptop (i7, 512GB) is on sale for its lowest price on Amazon ever as of Jan. 19.
January and February always come with that familiar “this is going to be my year” energy.
There’s something about the new year in quarantine, though, that’s adding an extra spark to our motivation to get shit done. Maybe it’s the extra time many of us have, or maybe it’s the FOMO kicking in after spending months doing nothing but waiting for things to get better.
Whatever your dream, you’ll need a laptop that can handle multiple tasks without kicking the fan into overdrive. The Acer Spin 5 convertible laptop is slick, versatile, and a total beast spec-wise, and it’s on sale for $839.99 as Amazon’s Jan. 19 Deal of the Day. That 24% discount brings it to its lowest price on Amazon ever, compared to the $900 it went for around Black Friday.
The 13-inch i7 512GB or 16-inch i7 512 GB Macbook Pro will run you $2,499.99 or $2,899.99 respectively — 9th generation i7 compared to the Spin 5’s 10th generation, by the way. You could argue that the MacBook Pro’s price hike can be attributed to the 3072 x 1920 Retina display, which is better than the Spin 5’s 2256 x 1504 display.
But there’s one factor about a MacBook display that always takes away its edge when competing with a convertible laptop: no touchscreen. The fact that MacBooks do not have touchscreens (and therefore can’t utilize a stylus) is almost an Apple claim to fame at this point, and could be a turnoff to hands-on people — like students who retain info when their notes are handwritten or graphic designers who use their own hand-drawn art.
The Acer Active Stylus is included with the laptop and rechargeable via a dock that’s built into the side of the keyboard. Just 15 seconds in that slot gives up to 90 minutes of juice. Similarly impressive, the laptop itself should last up to 15 hours on one charge.
