TL;DR: Kill 99.99% of germs and bacteria on your phone and other items with the CleanTray UV light sterilization case for $69.99, a 12% savings as of July 1.

Got an iPhone? Head to your settings, scroll down, and click on “Screen Time.” See that number? That’s how often you’re staring at your phone. Add that to the number of minutes per day you’re just carrying it around and that’s an uncomfortably large amount of time you are physically touching your phone each and every day. Now, ask yourself, when was the last time you actually cleaned that germ-covered rectangle you’re attached to?

The makers of KeySmart and CleanKey have created this CleanTray UV Light Sterilization Case to not only sanitize your phone, but also all of your other germ-filled items you carry around without realizing. It uses four 260nm to 280nm UV-C LED lights to kill 99.9% of bacteria and harmful viruses in as little as five minutes. Just remember: don’t look directly at the lights and keep the device away from the kids.

How does UV-C light kill germs? Well, according to microbiologist Alex Berezow, the UV light has a high frequency that damages the DNA (or RNA) of bacteria and viruses. It also “triggers lethal mutations that prevent them from reproducing properly.” In other words, it kills the germs and prevents them from coming back.

The CleanTray comes in a portable 8.3-inch size, so anything smaller than that will fit in it for sterilizing — your phone, wallet, face masks, AirPods, EDC tools, jewelry, watches, and more. And as an added bonus, there’s an aromatherapy function. Just add essential oils to the integrated hole and you can make all your belongings smell like lavender (or if that’s your thing).

Of course, it’s important to note that UV light has not been proven to eliminate coronavirus at this time. You certainly should still use CDC-recommended household disinfectants to keep on keeping on as we try to re-flatten the curve. And wash your hands. And definitely wear a mask.

Want to try the CleanTray for yourself? Now’s the time, since you can slash ten bucks off and get it for only $69.99.
