Samsung Galaxy Note 20 gets launch date and flat screen, rumors say
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 is launching in less than two months, and it’s bringing a couple of friends for the ride.
This is according to leaker Jon Prosser, who claims Samsung will have a (virtual) Unpacked event on August 5. Alongside the Note 20 flagship, the company will also launch two foldable devices: the Fold 2 and the ZFlip 5G. All of the phones will become available for purchase on Aug. 20, Prosser claims.

Notably, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who typically specializes in Apple products, disagreed, telling Prosser and Ice universe (another leaker who agrees on the Aug. 5 launch date) to “double check those dates.”
Specs-wise, previous rumors indicated that the Galaxy Note 20 will be quite similar to the Galaxy S20, with the standard addition of the S Pen. But Ice universe claims it will be significantly different from its predecessors in one important way: it will have a flat screen.

If accurate, this would be an interesting change. Samsung’s flagships have popularized displays with very curvy edges a few years back, but Samsung moved away from it with the Galaxy S20, which has a notably flatter (but not entirely flat) display. Last year’s Note series flagship, the Galaxy Note 10, still has a very curvy display, so if the Note 20 abandons that trend, we can probably declare it over and done with.
As far as the two other phones that might get launched at this event go, details are spotty. We’ve heard about both devices before; the ZFlip 5G should be a clamshell foldable phone with a price tag of about $845 and (obviously) 5G support, while the Fold 2 will be a slightly more affordable version of the original Fold, with larger displays and a punch-hole selfie camera instead of Fold’s side notch.
