Slack is down while everyone’s WFH and oh god what do we do now?
The West Coast is shook and not from an earthquake.
Slack went down just before 5pm Pacific Standard Time on Tuesday. While working stiffs on East Coast and Central Time were well into their quarantine evening sadness time, those of us still attempting to connect with colleagues in PST were left with naught but email for communication.
Slack confirmed on its Twitter that service had been interrupted and is still investigating the cause.
According to Downdetector, in the U.S., the outage is concentrated on the West Coast, with hot spots in Southern California, the Bay Area, Vancouver, and Seattle. Some East Coast and southern cities, including New York, Boston, Atlanta, and Houston, also appeared to be having problems (but what are you guys even doing on Slack rn?!)
Slack already dominated many workplaces before everyone became remote workers thanks to coronavirus. But with social distancing in place, it has become an indispensable work from home tool for instantaneous communication.
You thought we were socially distant before? HA! You didn’t KNOW social distance until Slack went down, you beautiful, lonely fool.
