New renders shows what Apple’s new budget phone could look like, whatever it’s called

A reputable leaker has got 2020 vision of the … iPhone 9? iPhone SE 2? Let’s just call it Apple’s latest attempt at a budget phone.

On Tuesday, Twitter user @OnLeaks shared renders of the “iPhone SE 2.” The render depicts features Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had predicted back in October: 4.7-inch LCD display with bezels, a Touch ID home button, and a single-lens rear camera. It looks something like the iPhone 8, but without a headphone jack and with a A13 Bionic chip.

OnLeaks also believes this 2020 model will be a tad bit thicker than its 2017 counterpart — 7.8 mm versus iPhone 8’s 7.3 mm. 

We’ll have to wait to find out what materials this rumored iPhone will be made of, though. OnLeaks told MacRumors the material render is based on his predictions. 

When the time comes, the iPhone may opt for cheaper materials than the ones used in the render–polished metal frame and frosted glass used on the iPhone 11 Pro. Its materials may look more like those used on the iPhone 8. One major differentiating factor between the iPhone 8 and this new iPhone, OnLeaks said, could be the frosted glass back.

If Kuo’s got it right, we’ll find out just exactly what material this iPhone is made of soon. He predicts the phone will debut early this year for around $399, available in 64 GB and 128 GB models.
