Bundle with this Echo Show to save $140
TL;DR: The Ring Video Doorbell 2 and Echo Show 5 typically retail for $199 and $89.99, respectively, but you’ll pay just $149 if you bundle them together through Amazon — a 50% savings.
If there’s one thing you can count on this Black Friday, it’s that retailers will be slapping tons of steep discounts on smart home devices (especially those made by Amazon). Brave the crowds at Target, for instance, and you’ll be able to buy a Google Home Mini for just $19. Dell, meanwhile, plans on selling the third-generation Echo Dot smart speaker for a mere $22 — that’s even cheaper than it was this past Prime Day.
If there’s one more thing you can count on this Black Friday, it’s that a lot of those dirt-cheap devices will sell out fast (like, “get in line at 3 a.m. or else you’re SOL” fast). Mercifully, Amazon is giving early-bird shoppers an opportunity to beat the inevitable Black Friday rush on the Ring Video Doorbell 2 and the Echo Show 5 — two of the year’s hottest smart home gadgets — by bundling them together for only $149. That’s almost half the cost of buying them separately, and a total savings of $140.
There’s been a lot of coverage about both the Video Doorbell 2 and the Echo Show 5 here on Mashable dot com™️, but here’s the lowdown on both devices just in case you need a quick refresher:
Ring Video Doorbell 2 (a $199 value)
This little gadget is exactly what it sounds like: a doorbell with a built-in HD video camera. Once it’s installed by your front door, you’ll be able to see, hear and talk to anyone who pays you a visit from the Ring app on a smartphone or tablet. You’ve also got the option of connecting the doorbell to an Alexa device (*cough cough* the Echo Show 5) if you want to enable visitor announcements.
Echo Show 5 (an $89.99 value)
For its part, the Echo Show 5 is a compact, Alexa-enabled smart display that lets you manage your entire fleet of smart home devices using simple voice commands. If you decide to sync it with the Ring Video Doorbell 2, you’ll be able to hear alerts whenever someone presses the doorbell and talk to them through the device.
Amazon’s Ring Video Doorbell 2/Echo Show 5 bundle is still live at $149 as of Friday morning, but since there’s no telling how long it’ll be available at that price, you’d be smart to snap it up while you still can.
