Amazon’s new Fire 7 Tablet is on sale for up to 40% off for Prime members
TL;DR: You can save $20 on the all-new Fire 7 Tablet if you have an Amazon Prime membership; it’ll bring the cost of the 16GB model down 40% to just $29.99 (normally $49.99) and the 32GB model down 29% to only $49.99 (normally $69.99).
While you were packing up at the end of the workday last Friday, Amazon was busy sneakily putting Apple’s 7th-generation 10.2-inch iPad on sale. But if that $30 discount wasn’t enough to tempt you to hit the “pre-order” button, get this: For a limited time, anyone with a Prime membership can score one of Amazon’s new Fire 7 Tablets for under $50.
Now, it bears mentioning that while the new iPad and the recently revamped Fire 7 Tablet are both technically tablets, they’re two completely different animals: The former is said to be jam-packed with features — Apple Pencil support! A smart connector for keyboards! The A10 Fusion Chip! — whereas the Fire 7 Tablet is basically a glorified e-reader.
But hey, maybe a glorified e-reader is all you really need right now.
Available in four different colors, the Fire 7 Tablet lives up to its name with up to seven hours of battery life and a 7-inch IPS display offering just enough space for watching films or browsing the web. (Bring it along on your commute or stash it in your carry-on for a trip for on-the-go entertainment.) It also features support for the Amazon Alexa virtual assistant for hands-free use, as well as a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor for decently fast performance.
You can grab a Fire 7 Tablet with either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage space; both models’ memory can be expanded with a microSD card of up to 512GB.
Amazon reviewers are generally fans of the new Fire 7 Tablet, especially in terms of its overall value for the money. Customer Kawaii Neko writes:
“I got this for when I go on breaks at work and want to watch a show or read a book or something. I like that it’s so cheap so I can bring it around with me without fear of it getting stolen, it wasn’t worth that much and not that huge of a loss if so. Not the best display but enough for you to enjoy a movie. Wish they allowed 1080p to be played on these but the display is so small and ppi seems small too. But overall great price for the quality and value.”
Visit Amazon to snag the 16GB model for only $29.99 (down 40% from $49.99) or the 32GB model for $49.99 (down 29% from $69.99) — just be sure you’re logged into your Prime account before you click “Place your order” on the checkout page.
