5 great shows you should watch on Netflix this week

Netflix’s catalog of both original and syndicated shows is ever-changing. To help you parse through the options, INSIDER is here to suggest five TV series worth watching this week. To start, we turn to a charming comedy series with a brand new season on Netflix this week.

‘Derry Girls’

Written and created by Lisa McGee, “Derry Girls” is a comedy about a group of young women living in Northern Ireland in the ’90s. It’s hilarious, at times absurd, and full of heart.

‘Blown Away’

“Blown Away” is one of Netflix’s original reality show competitions, and it’s by far one of the most interesting made yet. Glass artists from around the world compete in a gigantic warehouse studio to make various thematic sculptures and functional pieces.

You’ll learn more about the intricacies of glasswork, find yourself rooting for various artists, and gasp when carefully constructed pieces of delicate glass fall to the floor and shatter partway through the challenge time.

‘The OA’

One of Netflix’s most divisive series, “The OA,” was cancelled this week. But in the wake of this news, the show’s dedicated fan base has taken on a new life — and even developed a conspiracy theory which posits that the show isn’t really cancelled at all.

Though incomplete, the story told in the first two seasons of “The OA” is worth experiencing for yourself, if only to be part of the growing conversation around this unique show.
